The tussle over allotment of residences to ministers took an ugly turn on Tuesday when over 100 supporters of Minister of State for Housing and Slums Development Dayanand Mhaske stormed the government bungalow of Health Minister Vimal Mundada at Nariman Point.
Mhaske’s supporters smashed windows and pulled down curtains at Mundada’s residence, and also manhandled her husband Nandkishore. They alleged that the minister had ‘‘grabbed’’ Bungalow No B-2, which had been actually allotted to their leader.
‘‘Mundada’s husband sneaked into the bungalow and locked it from inside last night,’’ said Sona Kamble, one of the protesters, who even showed a copy of an allotment recommendation letter from Deputy Chief Minister R.R. Patil.
Mundada was at a training programme for newly elected legislators during the rampage.
