The Army has recovered 18 devices used for making improvised explosive devices from five militants who were killed in the Kamala and Jhir Pail area near the LoC recently.
The recovery in Khour sector is an indicator that militants will try to target pilgrims and security personnel, said Army officers. Incidentally, this is the first time in several months that the Army has seized such a large number of explosives in Jammu and Kashmir.
SP S. Samuel said there is every possibility that these IEDs were meant to target Amarnath pilgrims. Keeping in view the militants’ new strategy of planting IED on poles, the senior officers have asked the road opening party (ROP) to be more alert.
