PATIALA, MAY 17: MES Cricket Coaching Centre, Patiala defeated Chauhan Club, Patiala by 118 runs to lift the trophy in the first Hot Weather under 16 cricket tournament, which concluded at the MES Sports Complex here today.
After winning the toss MES decided to bat. The opening pair of Rajiv Sharma and Sachin gave a flying start to MES and shared a partnership of 71 runs. Rajiv’s individual score was 43 runs, which included two sixer and five boundaries while Sachin was back to the pavilion after scoring 29 runs.
Jatinder (41) and Nishant (37) also contributed to the total.
Sonu got four while Simran scalped two wickets.
Chauhan Club started their innings on a disappointing note. The team’s top five batsmen were back to the pavilion when the score board read 65 runs.
However, Amanpreet, who earlier scored century against Star XI, was off colour in the match today. He could only contribute two runs to the total.
Bhupinder (15) Pardeep (15), Simran (19) and Simranjit Singh (15 not out) were the only batsmen who could score in double figure for Chauhan Club.
Jatinder of MES bagged the man of the tournament award. Amanpreet of Chauhan Club was awarded the best batsman. Affan Ali of NICS and Sonu of Chauhan Club were jointly awarded the best bowler award of the meet.
Man of the final match went to Rajiv Sharma of MES.
Special prizes were also awarded to Gurpreet Sahney of NICS and Vikram of MES.
RP Pandov, secretary PDCA inaugurated the final match while PK Verma, IDSE Commander Works Engineer, Patiala, distributed the prizes to players.
