Expert shows easy way to retain facts, figures

He writes on the blackboard 64 digits given to him by his audience and then turns around to shut his eyes and rattle the 64-digit number8212;if there is anything like that!8212;in the same order, accurate to the last digit. When everybody talks B K Chandrashekhar listens. And can repeat it to the minutest detail. But, when he addressed an audience comprising mostly children at Scholar8217;s Home to announce opening of Memory Lab on the school8217;s premises, everybody sat in rapt attention. He performed some amazing feats and revealed equally amazing facts. 8220;Every function of the brain corresponds with the way computers work. But why are you surprised? Isn8217;t computer a creation of man and his intelligence?8221; he reasoned, illustrating his assertion with examples of the computer8217;s 8216;sleep mode8217; during which files are still being read, or opening too many windows that often causes the machine to 8216;hang8217;. He also launched an 8220;animated cosmic energy card8221; and extolled the special qualities of the colour green.

8220;The Memory Lab makes learning easy, in fact, fun through the technique of associating words and numbers with colours and images,8221; he said, explaining that though the left side of the brain is quicker to receive, it is the right side that retains and thus needs to be trained for an unfailing memory. 8220;The most normal and intelligent children can be bogged by the clutter of information, but some simple exercises can go a long way to take the pain out of learning and make it fun.8221;

He is an ex-Armyman who almost succumbed to cancer. Amidst sessions of chemo-therapy and despite shaking faith and falling hair, he saw a way out of his misery in Rajayog and Neurobics. 8220;The body has its own mechanism of healing; we simply need to train our minds towards administering ourselves pills from our inbuilt pharmacy,8221; he advises.

The Memory Lab 5-day course can be completed by any child from any school. 8220;The discipline helps kids retain maximum knowledge and recollect it in testing times,8221; he says, stressing association of words and numbers with movies, music and any of the everyday stuff.

Alt, Ctrl, Delete!
Yes, it is possible for us to delete our memory files too! Listen to memory expert B Chandrashekhar: 8220;Working on a computer, you delete certain unnecessary files, but often forget to clear the recycle bin. As a result, the file may pop up and cause trouble. We can get rid of troublesome memories and even addictions by simply proving them wrong. If cigarette is your poison and you feel you must have it to de-stress, fight with stress without smoking. And when you survive the stress, you know you can do fine without cigarette. Similarly, if your agonised imagining somebody is conspiring against you, reason with yourself and get closer to reality to prove that notion wrong. The file will get deleted automatically!8221;
