Former minister in F.A. Khonglam Ministry and senior NCP leader Adolf Hitler Marak was today arrested for his alleged links with the proscribed Achik National Volunteers Council (ANVC). Marak was later removed to the Civil Hospital where he is likely to remain till doctors attending to him declare him fit.

Marak is charged under the Unlawful Activities Act for allegedly allowing his official vehicle to be used for carrying militants. Speaking to mediapersons, East Khasi Hills district SP I. Nongrah said they have arrested the former minister after they got clinching evidences that he had links with the ANVC. A police officer investigating the case said, Marak made contradictory statements.

Police also grilled two ANVC members, who they had arrested from Tyrsat, on whether Marak had linked with their outfit. Police said that they have a dossier on the former minister, which gives his criminal background. ‘‘He has been involved in criminal activities right from his childhood. He was involved in robberies even before he became a legislator,’’ said an officer.
