AB de Villiers was understandably excited after achieving reaching his first double century on Friday. “It’s massive for me. I enjoyed batting on the track, every second of it. It’s close to the best knock of my career. However, I don’t play for personal milestones. Scoring runs in a winning cause is more important to me,” said the 24-year-old.De Villiers said he came prepared to play on sub-continental tracks, making adjustments to his technique. “To play spin, I now bring my bat down straight and tap the ball down. I worked on my sweep shots too.”De Villiers said he and Kallis had a simple plan when they came in to bat this morning — to see off the first session. “We wanted to bat for as long as possible. We knew it would be easier to bat on after lunch. Sreesanth bowled really well. Luckily we survived the morning session.” ‘I’ll bat anywhere’De Villiers’s previous four centuries have come as an opener, but he said he had no preferences as far as batting positions went. “As a player, you have to play all kinds of bowlers. So I don’t have a personal choice for a batting position. You just have to stick to your basics, no matter where you bat,” he said.
