The CID on Thursday chargesheeted 10 persons for their hand in the lynching of 10 suspected thieves in Dhelphorwa village of Vaishali district two months.
The chargesheet was filed in the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate at Hajipur. Earlier, the court had issued non-bailable arrest warrants against the 10 accused and later attached their properties. All the accused are reported to have fled the village apprehending police action.
The state has already announced a compensation of Rs 1 lakh each for the family members of those lynched as well as allotment of a house under the Indira Awas Yojna. The widows of those killed had met Chief Minister Nitish Kumar at his “janta darbar” last Monday.
On September 13, a mob in Dhelhorwa village, 40 km from Patna, had lynched 10 youths of a nomadic community suspecting them to be thieves. The state Government had handed over the probe to the Crime Investigation Department (CID).
