NEW DELHI, April 4: India maintained their winning streak and took their tally to eight gold, seventeen silver and five bronze medals at the Balco Asian Powerlifting Championship at Shah Auditorium here today.

Today, on the third day of the event, Indian powerlifters claimed two gold, six silver and one bronze medal in front of a Sunday crowd.

Day’s first gold was bagged by Manoj Kumar Singh in junior men’s section. Manoj lifted 592.5 kgs to win the 60 kg class gold while Neeraj G G added the second gold after an effort of 660 kgs in the 75 kg category.

The silver medals were won by Ashok Kumar (67.5 kg), RD Mishra (82.5 kg), both in the junior sections, and V. Sri Kumar (60 kg), S. Nadimuthu (67.5kg) and S. Bhagwati (82.5kg) in seniors. The lone bronze came from Anuj Kumar Dixit in the 67.5 kg class in juniors.

Of the six other gold medals, four went to lifters from Chinese Taipei and two to strongmen from Kazakhastan.

Naresh of The Gym, Hudson Line, Kinngsway Camp won the Junior Mr India silver at Guntor. President of Indian Gym Federtion has rewarded him Rs 11,000.
