NEW DELHI, Oct 1: Maharahstra’s Harsh Mankad and Ajay Ramaswamy scored easy victories over their rivals to move into the semifinals of the AITA Tour’s Shriram Open tennis (u-18) championship, here today.

Completing the last four line-up were Tamil Nadu’s Rishi and Vinod Sridhar.

Mankad made the grade overwhelming Tamil Nadu’s P Ravi Shankar 6-1, 6-2 in the quarter-finals while Ramaswamy easily put it across Pune’s Rohan Saikia to make the last four with a 6-2, 6-3 scoreline.

Rishi Sridhar,though, was stretched by Chandigarh’s AV Rao before booking a semi-final slot 6-1, 3-6, 6-2.

Vinod Sridhar waged a grim battle to oust Vijendra Laad 6-3, 7-6 (7-5) to complete the semi-final line-up.

In the under-14 quarter-finals, P Vishal (Dhaita) shutout Dhruv Kumar (Bengal) 6-2, 6-2.

Joining Vishal in the semifinals were Chandigarh’s Sunil Kumar, Dhaita’S Pratim Parekh and Andhra’s P Ravi Krishna.

Sunil Kumar made short work of Andhra’s AR Anand Kumar 6-1, 6-2, Pratim Parekh survived a first-set loss and staged a fine comeback to beat Prantap Chaturvedi also of Dharam Hinduja Aita Academy (Dhaita) 1-6, 7-5, 7-5. Ravi Krishnan defeated P S Bhattacharya (Dhaita) 7-6 (7-3), 6-4.

In the girls (u-18) section, Uzma Khan (AP), G Sdheetal, Shruti Dhawan (Dhaita) and Arpana Vasudevan qualified for the semis.

Uzma Khan defeated SK Tara (Kar) 7-5, 6-1, while G Sheetal drubbed Varsha Reddy (AP) 6-0, 6-2.

Aparna Srinivasan made short work of P Anujapathy (Dhaita) 6-3, 6-3 and Shruti Dhawan outlasted Radhika Mandke (Mah) 6-2, 7-5.

in the girls (u-14) three Maharashtra girls, Megha Vakharia, Jitisha Shelalkka, Lisa Pareira along with Dhaita’s Shruti Dhawan made it to the last four.

Megha Vakharia downed fighting T Yamini 7-5, 6-4, Jitidsha Shelakka routed Preeti Rao (TN) 6-0, 6-1, Lisa Pereira made short work of local girl Ankita Bhambri 6-1, 6-1 while Shruti Dhawan defeated Maharashtra’s Radhika Mandke 6-2, 7-5.
