Opposition parties today staged a walkout in the Lok Sabha as homage was not paid to Mahatma Gandhi on Martyrs8217; Day.

Congress chief whip Priya Renjan Dasmunsi protested against the Speaker8217;s 8216;8216;failure8217;8217; to mention Gandhi8217;s name in the obituary references today. Dasmunsi said: 8216;8216;We regret to say that on Martyrs8217; Day, the name of Mahatma Gandhi is not taken and today is the death anniversary of Gandhiji. It is a total indignity.8217;8217;

Shivraj Patil added: 8216;8216;We are very sorry8230;We don8217;t have enough words to protest.8217;8217; Speaker Manohar Joshi responded stating that the President, PM and he had paid homage at Rajghat. He referred to three precedents where the Mahatma8217;s name was not mentioned in obituary references.
