‘Maharashtrians do not accept Raj Thackeray’s theory’

Former Maharastra Governor S M Krishna chose to go by the opinion of the majority of Maharastrians that India belonged to everyone, saying ‘they do not subscribe to MNS views on North Indians and Biharis’.

“There are no takers for Maharashtra Nava Nirman Sena (MNS) views on this issue”, Krishna, who recently relinquished his gubernatorial post of the commercial hub of the nation, told a meet-the-press.

The Raj Thackeray-led MNS had last month targeted North Indian migrants living in Mumbai and taken objection to celebrations like Chhath pooja and Uttar Pradesh Diwas there.

Krishna recalled the freedom he enjoyed as Governor in Maharastra, particularly with regard to appointment of Vice-Chancellors, without any political interference.

Krishna said he had appointed at least 10 Vice-Chancellors during his three-year tenure.
