MUMBAI, JAN 9: Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Pramod Mahajan today held a closed-door meeting with senior BJP leaders including Deputy Chief Minister Gopinath Munde, Irrigation Minister Eknath Khadse and Legislative Council Chairman Prakash Jawdekar to take stock of the current political situation in the State.Mahajan is understood to have asked the leaders to assess the views of party legislators on the continuance of the alliance with the Shiv Sena following last weeks incident where some Sena activists damaged the pitch at Kotla in New Delhi in protest against the visit of Pakistan's cricket team to India. In this connection, a two-day study camp has been organised at Navi Mumbai on January 15-16 which will be followed by a meeting of the State executive on January 30-31 at Aurangabad. The meeting assumes significance in the wake of the stand of Sena supremo Bal Thackeray on the Pakistan team's tour of India. Though both Mahajan and Thackeray have declared that the issue would not haveany effect on the alliance government, BJP leaders expressed the view that the alliance was in crisis since Thackeray had caused severe embarrassment to the Vajpayee govt over it.
