PUNE, July 29: A magistrate from coroner court in Mumbai was arrested on Tuesday by Khadki police for manhandling his wife and her relatives. The magistrate, Chandrakant Kamble, was released on bail after he was produced before a judicial magistrate and remanded to magisterial custody.

The magistrate was arrested on a complaint by his wife Chhaya. She accused him and his brothers Sunil, Anil, and Ganesh of having assaulted her and her brother-in-law Ankush Gaikwad, and two other women relatives on July 18 evening.

Magistrate Kamble’s brothers, who were arrested on July 19, have been remanded to custody. The formalities required to arrest the magistrate were in progress when he produced himself at Khadki police station, around 2 p m on Tuesday, assistant commissioner of police V P Munde said. According to Chhaya’s complaint, the relationship between her and Kamble was strained.
