The Patiala Police today claimed to have cracked the murder case of Chandigarh Labour Court presiding officer Vijay Singh with the arrest of Dr Ravdeep Kaur and Granthi Manjit Singh.Dr Ravdeep, the police said, was “madly in love” with Vijay Singh and wanted him to divorce his wife and marry her. She paid Manjit Rs 5 lakh for the murder, the police added.The police said Dr Ravdeep Kaur confessed that she paid Manjit Rs 50,000 as advance and Rs 2.5 lakh on the day of the murder. Manjit, 25, has a criminal record, the police said. SSP Dr Amardeep Singh Rai said the police were yet to find whether Manjit committed the crime only for money.Sources said Dr Ravdeep, who runs Ravi Hospital in the city, had been living separately from her husband, also a doctor, for the last few years. She has a 14-year-old son.SSP Rai said during the interrogation, the two said they had been following the judge for several days. They got an opportunity on Thursday when he had come for a walk to Polo Grounds without security guards. But the police are not sure how many persons attacked the judge. The police had recovered a mobile phone from the murder site. The judge had received over 27 stab wounds.‘Doc lodged complaint’patiala: SSP Dr A S Rai said Dr Ravdeep Kaur had lodged complaint with the police in January, alleging that the judge had beaten up her servant. She was called to the police station and questioned. Howver, the complaint was found baseless and no case was registered.
