The Ministry of Shipping, Road Transport & Highways, with two non-Hindi speakers at the helm, has found a novel method to keep the Hindi Salahkar Samiti in good humour. The Samiti keeps a tab on the “progressive use of Hindi” in the ministry and holds yearly review and assessment meetings. The ministry plays the good host holding the annual one-day meet at scenic locations. So while last year’s meet was held at Kochi, this year it is off to the Andaman & Nicobar islands.
