After Arjun Rampal in Rock On, watch Shahana Goswami nag Randeep Hooda in Ru Ba Ru
A walk from the Raghuvanshi Mills compound to Phoenix Mills with newbie actor Shahana Goswami seems longer than usual. Every second glance from a passer-by speaks volumes of her popularity and her newly-acquired celebrity status. Post Rock On, this versatile actress is a runaway success. 8220;With the success of Rock On, my life has taken a U-turn. Today, wherever I go my character Debbie goes with me,8221; she smiles, clearly loving the adulation.
Dressed in blue denims, a white top and beads around her neck, she is your typical collegian with oodles of ardour and zest. And for this 22-year-old, her success story has only begun.
After doing minuscule roles in Yun Hota To Kya Hota and Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd she is now looking forward to her next big release, Ru Ba Ru with actor Randeep Hooda, on Friday. 8220;This one is a romantic story, about a live-in couple8217;s relationship and the ups and downs they go through. I nag quite a bit in this movie too,8221; she says, afraid of the fact that after two 8216;nagging wife8217; roles she might be stereotyped as one.
A Delhiite by birth, Mumbai has been her home for the last four years. 8220;I have lived here through my graduation years and I have been a part of Jaimini Pathak8217;s theatre group, Working Title, which initially helped me get into films,8221; she says, looking around for some shade to escape the city8217;s humid weather. But she has never been trained in acting. 8220;It is in my genes,8221; she proudly states, giving instances of her parents8217; involvement in theatre and dance.
For Goswami, Ru Ba Ru happened while she was still in college completing her graduation. She gave her first shot for Ru Ba Ru in Bangkok, much before she was signed on for Rock On. But ironically enough the latter has turned out to be her first big release. 8220;It is all good. What I fear is with the success of Rock On, expectations are sky high. Everyone around me expects me to give a brilliant performance in Ru Ba Ru as well,8221; she says, as we pass by a magazine stall with posters of Rock On.
Success has kept her grounded. This, we can see in the little things that make her happy. As we walk around Phoenix Mills, she stumbles upon a host of white and mauve periwinkle flowers along the periphery of the compound which she admires, something that is typical of her character in her forthcoming movie as well. However, she refuses to look at any of the restaurants around. 8220;I am on a strict diet; I can only have juice right now. This profession makes you do all sorts of things. But I make sure I binge once a week at least,8221; she says, while climbing the stairs that lead to The Bowling Company.
