The Left today said it was ready to participate in the UPA8217;s coordination committee to be set up to implement the common minimum programme.

Speaking at a seminar on the CMP, CPIM politburo member Prakash Karat said: 8216;8216;We have separate views on issues, but that can be resolved. If there is a forum, we will participate in it. We will be in the joint mission with the UPA.8217;8217;

The Left parties already have a coordination forum of its own, while the UPA coordination committee is yet to be formalised. The sensex may not have reacted positively to the UPA8217;s common minimum programme, but the members of the coalition, especially the Left, have given it full marks. So much so that Karat said: 8216;8216;This CMP is a better copy than the United Front CMP, of which we were an integral part. And, we are confident that the CMP will be respected.8217;8217;

Karat was sharing the dias with Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel with whom the Left had recently crossed swords over the airports privatisation issue. While Karat put out a friendly warning that the 8216;8216;Left will criticise the government8217;8217; but not 8216;8216;destablise8217;8217; it, Patel said: 8216;8216;I8217;m sure that the Left will change its ideological position responding to the needs of the time.8217;8217;
