The Delhi Legal Services Authority (DLSA) and the New Delhi Bar Association have come up with a unique way to ensure free legal aid to the poor. In a meeting held on Thursday, Justice Mukul Mudgal of the Delhi High Court requested lawyers to volunteer for the cause. The proposed mechanism will ensure ample interaction between lawyers and the accused in custody. Mudgal said the fee of the lawyers would also be increased and paid within 60 days by the DLSA. Leading lawyers have volunteered to aid the poor in need of legal assistance, Sanjay Sharma, Project Officer, DLSA, said.
