Centre asks Maha govt to ensure security of Anna Hazare

The development came in the wake of attacks on Team Anna member Prashant Bhushan and Kejriwal.

In the wake of successive attacks on Team Anna members, the Centre has asked the Maharashtra government to ensure proper security of Anna Hazare, who is currently observing ‘vow of silence’.

The Home Ministry advised the state government to review the security of the Gandhian, who is now at his village Ralegan Siddhi in Maharashtra and deploy security guards there if necessary, sources said.

The Centre’s advisory came in the wake of attacks on Team Anna member Prashant Bhushan on October 12 in New Delhi and his colleague Arvind Kejriwal in Lucknow yesterday.

Sources said the advisory was of a general nature and there was no specific threat to the life of Hazare.
