BJP out with ‘charge sheet’ against Gujarat Guv,seeks recall

Gujarat BJP accused the Governor of acting in a 'whimsical' and 'autocratic' way.

Launching an all-out offensive against Governor Kamla, the Gujarat BJP issued an open “charge-sheet” against her accusing her of acting in a “whimsical” and “autocratic” way and demanded her recall.

Relations between the Governor and the Narendra Modi government have worsened after she appointed Justice R A Mehta as Gujarat Lokayukta, bypassing the chief minister.

The party passed a unanimous resolution asking the Centre to recall Kamla who,it alleged,”is holding the highest constitutional post yet has been acting in a whimsical way which goes against the federal character of the Constitution.”

The Governor had repeatedly showed her inclination to act against constitutional provisions,”hurting the sentiments of the people of Gujarat,” it alleged.

Dr Kamla’s actions,of late, had been demeaning the office of Governor, due to her autocratic approach,it added.

In the recent past, there were many instances when the governor had acted in a hasty manner without taking the state government into confidence,it claimed.

The resolution enumerated examples of her “autocratic approach”,such as not giving approval to five bills which were passed by the Assembly.
