Leg-spinner Anil Kumble has been omitted from the 14-player squad named by India on Monday for the first two games of their one-day international series against Pakistan starting on Saturday. The 34-year-old Kumble claimed 17 wickets in the three-Test series which ended in a 1-1 draw on Monday following Pakistan’s 168-run victory in the final test in Bangalore. Batsman VVS Laxman, wicketkeeper Dinesh Kaarthick and opening batsman Gautam Gambhir were the other Test squad members to be left out. Laxman and Kumble were also overlooked for the previous one-day series in Bangladesh in December, which India won 2-1.
