JALANDHAR JAN 3: SR Kidambi (Tamil Nadu) bagged the title in the 28th National Junior chess Championship, pipping compatriot K Sasikiran on the basis of better progressive score after the two were tied at 7.5 points each. While Kidambi posted a progressive score figure of 40.5, International Master K Sasikiran tallied 40 to be relegated to the second spot.

Nilotpal Das of Goodricke Chess Academy had 7 points with a progressive score of 35 while defending champion R Karthik (Tamil Nadu) had 6.5 with a progressive score figure of 37.

International Master Tejas Bakre (Indian Airlines) fell way behind at 6. VR Kamble of Maharashtra, who also won his last encounter, secured the fourth position with seven points and a progressive score of 34.5 points. Defending champion R Karthik and TV Karthikeyan, both of Tamil Nadu, lost and failed to move up the ladder. They were placed fifth and sixth with 6.5 points each.
