PUNE, May 13: Dr P M Khare, professor and head, Department of Microbiology, Sassoon General Hospital and B J Medical College, who was conferred the Hardas Pathak award last year, died today. He was 58 and was due to retire in May this year.
Khare served as a consultant pathologist in public hospitals to Government medical colleges at Nagpur and Miraj after which he was promoted to the Sir J J Group of Hospitals and Government Medical College, Mumbai as professor of microbiology.
Apart from serving as deputy dean, he has co-edited a Monogram on Gelimmuno diffusion techniques. He also has 50 publications in subjects of pathology and microbiology to his credit. Khare is survived by his wife and three daughters.
