Kerala to form ethics panels

Kerala is going in for ‘‘ethics committees’’ to monitor the misuse of mobile phones, particularly camera phones, as well as to examine the staging of fashion and dance shows. The panels would comprise students, parents and teachers.

Orders for the formation of the panels have been issued following meetings of representatives of students’ unions and educationists convened last month, state Education Minister E.T. Muhammad Basheer informed the state Assembly on Thursday.

A committee chaired by the education minister and district level panels with collectors as convener would also be formed, Ba1sheer said. He said there was no need to introduce a dress code in educational institutions as uniforms had been made compulsory upto higher secondary classes. —PTI
