MANDI, Aug 11: Former Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha Speaker and Congress leader Kaul Singh Thakur, at a press conference here today, warned that unless prompt action was taken to flush out the pro-Pakistan terrorists from the Himachal Pradesh areas bordering Jammu and Kashmir, this peaceful state would soon be infested with Pakistan prompted insurgents.

Kaul Singh Thakur condemning the incident at Karban and Satrundi villages where the suspected the militants massacred 35 labourers and injured 11 others in two incidents in the Tissa area of Chamba district, Kaul Singh said that this highlighted the rapidly deteriorating law and order situation in the state.

He said the Central government in consultation with Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir and HP government should formulate a joint action plan to eliminate terroirsm from the northern states claiming that his party was not against any particular religion and was only concerned about those sympathisers of Pakistan who went out in the garb of Indian nationals. The Union Government should revamp the counter-insurgency set up as the present one had proved to be no match to the ISI of Pakistan, he suggested.

Comming down heavily on the Bharatiya Janata Party governments in the state and at the Centre for its failure to check rising prices and inflation, Kaul Singh said that this had maded life difficult for the poor and common man in the country. The worst was that the necessities of life like foodgrains edible oils and vegetables had gone beyond the reach of common man due to increasing prices of these commodities day by day.
