Kanwaljeet elected as CABA president

Capt. Kanwaljit Singh, cooperation minister, Punjab, has been unanimously elected as president of Chandigarh Amateur Boxing Association replacing AR Talwar.

Capt. Kanwaljit Singh, cooperation minister, Punjab, has been unanimously elected as president of Chandigarh Amateur Boxing Association replacing AR Talwar. In a meeting held under the chairmanship of Satish Chandra, IAS, Singh was chosen unanimously. The meeting was attended by 14 out of 15 units of CABA.

It was decided to invite 17 teams foreign and Indian teams in the first International Men’s Boxing Tournament (16th A K Misra Championship) at Chandigarh from February 11 to February 15.

Carmel wins
Mount Carmel School scored a narrow 1-0 win over Sacred Heart School in a league match of the second Saupin’s Football Tournament which started at Saupin’s School on Monday. In another match of the day, St Stephen’s School defeated St Xavier’s School by 4-0.

The Supreme Court Monday issued notice on a plea seeking an independent and expeditious investigation into the June 12, 2025, crash of an Air India Boeing Dreamliner in Ahmedabad, which killed 260 people. The bench also termed as “unfortunate” media reports which indicated that “pilot error” was to blame for the crash, purportedly quoting some preliminary findings by the AAIB.
