JANUARY 6: The selection of Indian junior badminton teams for the forthcoming junior international tournaments will be announced at the conclusion of the Union Bank junior & mini all-India prize money ranking tournament to be held at Bangalore from Jan 14 to 16, according to Badminton Association of India sources here today.The three-day tournament, sanctioned by the BAI, with Rs 1 lakh prize money at stake, will held at K Raheja Badminton stadium and last date of receipt of entries is Jan 10. The qualifying rounds will be held on Jan 13 in one game-21 points system.The entries may be sent to K Raheja Badminton Stadium, No 4 Jasma Bhavan Road, Miller Tank Bed area, Bangalore -52.VETERANS' NATIONALS: Veterans' nationals will be held at Mumbai from Jan 25 to 29. The five-day tournament will be played in nine categories at Bombay Gymkhana badminton courts. The qualifying rounds, with one game -21 points system, will be conducted on Jan 24.The events are: Men singles (+45), Men's doubles (+45), Women's singles (+45), women's doubles (+45), men's doubles (+40), men's doubles (+50), men's doubles (+55), women's doubles (+35), Mixed doubles (men +45, women +35).The entries may be sent to Mr Kulin Manek, organising secretary, The Greater Mumbai Badminton Association, 417, Vasant Niwas, 3rd floor, Bhavdaji Cross Road, Matunga, Mumbai-19.SR.NATLS AT KOCHI: The 55th inter state and 64th senior national badminton tournament will be held at Cochin from Feb 24 to March 1. The qualifying rounds will be held on Feb 22 and 23.The maximum entries permissible for each affiliated unit in each event is 2 singles and one doubles. In case a affiliated unit reaches final in the zonal category of either men or women events, they will be entitled for a double quota (i.e) 4 singles and 2 in paired events in the events concerned only.Last date of receipt of entries is Feb 13, which should be send to, Mr John of Matha, Green Garden Apartments, Cochin University road, South Kalamssery, Cochin University, Cochin - 682022.
