
PUNE, June 8: Even as the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) results will be declared on Tuesday, medical and dental hopefuls will have to gear up for the common entrance examination (CEE) to be held on July 12 for admission to the MBBS/BDS courses. In case students secure the same marks in the CEE, then the marks obtained at the HSC examination will be counted.
While there is no directive issued regarding admission to ayurved and homeopathy courses, B J Medical College dean Dr Mrudula Phadke told mediapersons today that the State Government had to follow the Supreme Court directive in holding the entrance examination for admission to MBBS/BDS course at government, municipal corporation and non-aided private medical and dental colleges in Maharashtra.
Phadke, who is in-charge of the Pune centre, said that four papers of multiple choice questions in physics, biology, chemistry and English will be held on July 12. Students will be given a model question paper at the time of submission of their application forms – the last date being June 20.
Application forms will be distributed from June 11 to 19 at all government medical colleges and district collectorate offices. However, where there are no government medical colleges, forms will be issued at district collectorate offices. Forms will have to be submitted by candidates in the region where they have availed their HSC degree certificates from
.Dr P M Bulakh, deputy dean, BJMC and in-charge of the Nashik centre said that such candidates having passed standard XII at one attempt and born on or before January 1, 1982 will be eligible to apply. Students must attach two passport size photographs along with their application forms.
In case of students securing the same marks in the examination, those applicants with a higher total of uncorrected marks in physics, chemistry and biology at standard XII will be preferred over the lower total. In the event of a second tie-breaker, the candidate’s higher total of uncorrected marks for PCB and English will be preferred over the lower total.
While a provisional eligibility list will be declared, such candidates who have secured 50 per cent in the open category and 40 per cent in the reserved category will be considered eligible for admission. Thereafter the 30 per cent state merit and 70 per cent regional merit list will be displayed.
While the Directorate of Medical Education and Research will release the timetable of admission at a later date, a compendium containing the prescribed rules, application form and information about the CEE and colleges will be made available against a cash payment of Rs 500. Aspirants belonging to the reserved category may procure the form at a concessional price of Rs 250, Dr Suhas Dani, in-charge of the Ahmednagar centre said.
