
AURANGABAD, July 22: Chief Minister Manohar Joshi has finally fixed a schedule to discuss problems plaguing Marathwada with veteran freedom fighter and president of the Marathwada Vikas Parishad, Govindbhai Shroff.
The meeting will be held on July 31.
Joshi had a meeting with Govindbhai in April, but the talks were inconclusive.
Govindbhai and a group of academicians and social activists, have been collecting data on the problems confronting the region.
The Marathwada Vikas Parishad has been expressing grave concern over the state of irrigation in the region. Govindbhai is of the view that the State Government should immediately end all lift irrigation projects on Jayakwadi dam, between Nashik and Aurangabad.
Govindbhai is also expected to discuss the proportional representation of Marathwada people in government jobs. Over 15 delegates will be present at the meeting.
