DECEMBER 28: Mumbai paid for missing chances galore as they lost their semi-final league match to Maharaj Jiwaji University (Gwalior) in the West Zone Inter-varsity hockey tournament at Jodhpur. According to information received here, Jiwaji squeaked through a penalty corner conversion by Shailendra Kumar in the 51st minute.

Barkatullah University (Bhopal) beat Jodhpur 4-0. Bhopal and Jiwaji have four points each though the former is better on goal difference. Mumbai are third with three points.

A goal by Mumbai’s Gurmeet Singh was disallowed while a penalty stroke conversion by Jiwaji’s Mushir Alam was also negated. A mid-field lapse resulted in the second penalty corner which was converted by Shailendra. Mumbai wasted seven penalty corners in the match.
