October 20: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Laloo Prasad Yadav on Sunday said the new Jharkhand state would soon merge with Bihar as it was not “economically and politically-viable”. “Jharkhand will not prove to be economically-viable and will have to depend upon the Centre,” he told reporters in Patna. He favoured creation of a `Greater Jharkhand’, including tribal areas of Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and West Bengal. Accusing the “left and right extremist groups” responsible for the recent killings in Bihar, the Lalloo said the state government’s top priority was improving law and order situation.
