
COSTA DEL SOL, November 21: Omega TOUR star Jeev Milkha Singh of India has made a flying start in his bid for one of the 45 player’s cards up for grabs at the PGA European Tour School in southern Spain.
Jeev shot a five-under par 67 yesterday at the Guadalmina Golf Club and shares the lead with Australia’s Darren Cole, the man who beat him in a play off at the $ 500,000 Asia Pacific Ericsson Masters in Indonesia in September.
Jeev will play four rounds here with the top 75 competitors qualifying for the final two rounds at San Roque. The marathon qualifying tournament finishes on Tuesday.
Jeev had seven birdies in a great round including a hat-trick over the final three holes.
Three Indians make cut
BANGKOK: Three Indians, led by Arjun Atwal, who fired a superb three-under-par 69, made the cut in the $ 200,000 Lexus International at Bangpoo Country Club today.
Vivek Bhandari, who shot a two-under 70 for an aggregate seven-under-par 136, and 59th placed Jyoti Randhawa with a one-under-par 71 managed to advance.
Bhandari and Atwal, who came up with a superb first round show, however slipped from the joint third place they occupied yesterday. While Atwal was joint fifth, two strokes behind the leaders, Bhandari shared the seventh position.
America’s Mike Cunning, who carded 65, Myanmar’s Kyi Hla Han (67) and Scotland’s Kenny Walker, 70, led after the second round.
