LUDHIANA, JANUARY 20: Former champions JCT scored a solitary first-half goal win over fellow Punjab rivals BSF in the IV National Football League match on Thursday.

Forward Jaswinder Singh struck the all-important goal following a throw-in by wingback Daljit Singh in the 24th minute to give JCT full points and their first win after a defeat to Mumbai’s Mahindras and draws against FC Kochin and State Bank of Travancore.

The victory lifted JCT’s tally to 13 points while BSF are at the bottom with four points.

MARGAO: Down by an early goal, former champions Mohun Bagan fought back to hold table toppers Churchill Brothers 1-1 at Nehru Stadium.

Churchill took lead in the fifth minute. Rockey Baretto back heeled the ball to the net after Bagan defenders Hussain Mustafi and Lolendro Singh failed to clear Somatai Shaiza’s grounder off a flag-kick.

The equaliser came in the 79th minute when Igor Shkivrin finished a counter move. Bagan ‘keeper Nandy cleared the ball which came to unmarked Igon via substitute Kasif Jamal and he placed it past the onrushing ‘keeper Edward Ansah.

Churchill remain on top with 19 points from nine matches. Bagan are tied with Mahindras and Salgacoar on 16 points and remained at fourth spot.
