MUMBAI, Oct 31: Mumbai Ranji opener Wasim Jaffer hit a fine unbeaten 93 to power National Cricket Club to command on the opening day of their two-day Police Shield Invitational cricket encounter against Cricket Club of India at the Brabourne Stadium today.

Jaffer was also involved in a 127-run unbroken third wicket-partnership with Rajesh Sutar 59 as National ended the day on 184-2.

A five-wicket haul by leg-spinner Sairaj Bahutule helped P J Hindu Gymkhana to dismiss Parsee Gymkhana for 147. Bahutule returned figures of 11-4-25-5. At stumps, Hindu Gymkhana were 26 without loss.
