The CPIM today asked the the government to intensify security in the three Maoist-affected districts in the state.

Condemning the Maoist attack at Belpahari in West Midnapore district today, CPIM state secretary Anil Biswas said that terrorism would never succeed in West Bengal. He expressed hope that people would isolate those elements who are bent upon destroying law and order in the state. 8220;The police personnel sacrificed their lives in maintaining law and order and democratic environment in the state,8221; he said.

Stating that 18 police personnel have so far been killed in Maoist attacks in the state, Biswas said, 8220;I urge the state government to intensify security in the three affected districts of West Midnapore, Bankura and Purulia.8221; He said the pattern of attack indicated that the superintendent of police of West Midnapore district, Ajay Nanda, was the target. 8212;PTI
