CUDDALORE, August 5: A suspended police constable, Ramalingam, his father and brothers were among the six persons killed in a clash at Vannankudikadu village in Tamil Nadu. The suspended policeman had allegedly been perpetrating atrocities on the villagers, and threatening them to prevent their testifying against him. The man and his brother stoned the villagers, and killed a 65-year-old man with deadly weapons. The angered villagers then gathered in strength to chase the cop, who is out on bail, and his brothers. The man and his three brothers later turned on their father, probably with the idea of shifting the blame on the villagers, but the villagers attacked the family with deadly weapons and hacked them to death.
