The Irani Trophy match here has thrown up a few more names for the national selectors to ponder upon. If the likes of Mohammed Kaif, Suresh Raina, Munaf Patel, Ramesh Powar and Ajit Agarkar had thought that the trip to Rajkot will help them prove a point, then Parthiv Patel, Manoj Tiwari and S Badrinath have made stronger claims. Abhishek Nayar and Sahil Kukreja too have made their presence felt.

The big names have not really come good here. Munaf’s and he failed to get a wicket in the 19.5 overs he bowled. Mumbai offie Ramesh Powar too failed to impress. Agarkar never got his rhythm, though he did get the crucial wicket of Kaif.

The only bowler who came out with flying colours was Ishant Sharma who scalped three Mumbai wickets giving away 58 runs in the 22 overs that he bowled.
