CALCUTTA, NOV 6: The women’s seeding in the Eastern India Table Tennis Championship was thrown haywire with most of them biting dust at the Kshudiram Anushilan Kendra here today.

Top seed Mantu Ghosh of Railways gave in to Paulumi Ghatak of Bengal in a the quarter-final 13-21, 21-17, 21-17, 22-24, 21-16. Later, Ghatak lost to Tamil Nadu’s NR Indu 12-21, 18-21, 21-19, 20-22 in the semi-final. Indu will now meet Railways’ Anindita Chakraborty in the final. Chakraborty overcame Bengal youngster Mouma Das 14-21, 21-9, 19-21, 21-13, 21-19.

B Bhuvaneswari, the joint top seed, lost in the pre-quarter-final to former national champion Kanchan (Dhawan) Basak 13-21, 19-21, 22-20, 18-21.
