The arrival of Ram Parkash (51), an Indian Prisoner released from Pakistan jail on June 30 last, has once again been delayed due to formalities by Indian authorities.
Ram Parkash, lodged in Kot Lakhpat Jail since 1998 is now expected to return home on July 7 as his necessary travel documents are being prepared, reports reaching in Amritsar said.
A resident of Kucha Talab village near Bishnah in Jammu, Ram Parkash was arrested in 1997 and lodged in the Pakistani jail in 1998 on spying charges.
Immediately after being released on June 30 Pakistani jail officials had brought Ram Parkash to Wagah post on July 1 but Indian authorities at Attari Border refused to accept him, contending that he was not carrying an important travel document.
Consequently, he was sent back to Kot Lakhpat jail.
The Immigration and BSF authorities at Attari Border said they have to follow certain rules and regulations besides adhering to proper protocol in such sensitive international matters, and had no authority to accept Ram Parkash without proper travel documents.
