Lucknow, April 8: India bagged all 10 gold medals on the opening day of the two-day Saarc judo championship today. India won five gold each in the men and women events.

In the men’s category, Nepal’s Ram won the silver (90kg), the bronze went to de Sereviratne. In the under-100 kg, GC Remanaike bagged the silver.

Nepal’s Hom Bahadur Thapa bagged the silver in 81 kg category while the bronze was claimed by RDKPC Gunasekara of Sri Lanka. The under-66 kg category also had just two participants, and silver went to Nepal’s Dev Raj Budha. In the under-73 kg, Sri Lanka’s MS Muize bagged the silver and the bronze went to Prabin Kaji of Nepal.

Sri Lanka bagged the silver in the under-63 kg, under-52 kg and under-48 kg through RDC Gunasekara, S Lalani Verasinghe and Ihgru Abeyratna respectively.

Nepal bagged the bronze medal in the under-63, 52 and 48 kg through Mahalaxmi, Sunsubha Gurung and Gowri Shrestha respectively.

In the other bouts, India’s Vikram Solanki defeated Sri Lanka’s DLCK Omaratne in theunder-60 kg category while Satish Yadav of India defeated GC Ramanaike of Sri Lanka in the open weight category by two w/a.

Results: Men’s gold winners:

Narinder Singh (under-90 kg), Ashwini Kumar (under-100kg), Deepak Tyagi (under-81 kg), Najib Aga (under-66 kg) and Pankaj Sharma (under-73 kg).

Women section:

Jagjeet Kaur (under-70 kg), Sangeeta (under-57kg), Anuradha (under-52 kg), Parvinder Kaur (under-63 kg) and Sapna (under-48 kg).
