DURBAN, JAN 30: India beat Pakistan by five wickets in their under-19 World Cup match here, but it was not enough for them to reach Sunday’s final of the three-week tournament.
India had to score runs at more than five an over to surpass England’s superior run-rate in their Super League pool, but their hopes were raised briefly by a flurry of runs from captain Amit Pagnis (52) and Mohammed Kaif (53 not out).
Pakistan totalled 188 in 47 overs, while India had 191 for five in 40.1 overs.
India’s failure mainly meant South Africa are now likely to play England in the final — the host nation should overcome Sri Lanka.
