DHAKA, January 14: Prime Minister Inder Kumar Gujral said here today that he would discuss with his Bangladeshi counterpart Sheikh Hasina the issue of handing over United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA) leader Anoop Chetia who is wanted in India in connection with the killing of prominent persons.

"I will certainly take up the Chetia issue and all other bilateral issues," Gujral told reporters at Dhaka airport on his arrival here on a two-day visit.

Besides holding talks with Hasina, Gujral will also hold a separate meeting with Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and attend a business summit aimed at boosting economic cooperation between India, Pakistan and Bangladesh.

Referring to the three-nation summit, Gujral said it was important for these countries to come together for economic cooperation by the turn of the century.

Gujral’s remarks about Chetia, who was arrested by Bangladesh police during a raid on ULFA hideouts in Central Dhaka last month, came shortly before his first round of talks with Sheikh Hasina at the presidential palace.

Substantive issues relating to Indo-Bangla relations will be taken up at the talks, External Affairs Ministry officials said.
