
Bhupathi stays on top
NEW DELHI: India8217;s Mahesh Bhupathi has maintained his position as world number one individual in doubles play for the second week running despite a week off. Bhupathi and partner Leander Paes, the world number two doubles player, are trailing behind the US-Zimbabwean pair of Sandone Stolle and Wayne Black, at number two position.
The two play in ATP Tour Hamburg Open this week and then travel to Italy, where they will defend their ATP Tour Mercedes Super 9 title in Rome.
Bhupathi has a total of 3836 points followed by Paes 3765 and Dutch Paul Haarhuis 3624 in the third position. Sandone Stolle 3226 and Daniel Nestor 3018 take fourth and fifth position respectively with Australians Todd Woodbridge and Mark Woodforde, for the first time in many years, are down to seventh and eighth positions.

The Commonwealth Games 8217;98 gold medalist shot 121 out of a maximum 125. The gold medal was won by Alipov of Russia who shot 123 and silver went to Atlanta Olympic Games gold medalist Michael Diamond of Australia with 122, while Akhtoksk of Ukraine got the bronze, also on 122.
