
Top billing for PSCB
NEW DELHI: Defending champions Petroleum Sports Control Board PSCB and Bengal have been seeded No 1 in the men8217;s and women8217;s team event respectively in the 60th Senior National table tennis championships to be held at Chennai from January 6-13.
In the men8217;s section, 26 squads divided in four groups, will battle for top honours while 25 will clash in the women8217;s section of the team event, which will be played from January 6-9, a Table Tennis Federation of India TTFI release said. Following are the groupings:
Men8217;s Group A: PSCB, Assam, Delhi, Kerala, Goa, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana.B: Railways, Gujarat, Karnataka, Chandigarh, Manipur, Pondicherry, Tripura. C: Punjab, Maharashtra B, Rajasthan, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Orissa. D: Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra A, Jamp;K, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh.
Women8217;s A: Bengal, Assam, Chandigarh, Kerala, Chandigarh, Kerala, Haryana, Jamp;K. B: Petroleum Sports Control Board, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Manipur, HimachalPradesh C: Tamil Nadu, Delhi, Karnataka, Maharashtra B, Gujarat, Pondicherry. D: Punjab, Railways, Maharashtra A, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Orissa, Tripura.
Suvarna prevails
ASANSOL: Suvarna Vetale of Maharashtra won gold creating a new meet record in the eighth All-India GV Mavalankar shooting championship. She scored 364 points followed by West Bengal8217;s Swati Ghosh, who scored 363 points. A Philipose of the Army came third with 362 points.
Kerala champs
HYDERABAD: Kerala judokas claimed the overall championship title with 116 points in the South Zone National junior judo championship. Andhra Pradesh, with 95 points, and Karnataka with 46 points, secured second and third positions respectively.
