
India’s successful ‘Incredible India’ campaign to attract tourists was the cynosure of all eyes at the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) awards ceremony in Bali, Indonesia, where it received the ‘Grand Award’ for the best marketing campaign.
The award, which was announced in July this year, was received by Tourism Secretary S Banerjee. “This is a memorable, evocative and emotive campaign,” the judges of the award said. “Excellent visuals and print material combine in a creative way to highlight the reasons known reasons to visit India. And strong growth in visitor arrivals during the period proves that it has worked,” they said.
PATA, which is a known body of tour and travel industries in Asia Pacific region, gives away the ‘grand awards’ in four categories, in addition to 24 ‘gold awards’ to recognise exceptional achievement in a variety of endeavours in the travel industry.
India also won two gold awards, one for Cultural Tourism in Aranmula in Kerala and the other for the best marketing brochure prepared by Kumarkom in the same state.
