Prosecution and litigation director takes over
B.S. Chandi today took over as director, prosecution and litigation, Punjab. He was earlier functioning as additional director, litigation and prosecution, and joint secretary to the Government of Punjab.

Acting chairman for Consumer Forum n JAIDEV SINGH will function as the acting chairman of the Consumers Forum Chandigarh in absence of Brig. Jaghmohan Singh, while Kulwant Kaur will be acting as the vice chairperson. According to public relations officer R.K. Kaplash, Kulwant Dhaliwal was appointed as president of the complaints committee during the Forum’s monthly meeting.

Saving Scheme
Pay roll saving scheme
A function, commemorating the Pay Roll Day, is being organised at the Ordinance Cable Factory here on July 15 by the National Savings Organisation for highlighting the significance of pay roll saving scheme for the salaried class. According to a press release, desired amount is deposited in the post office recurring deposit account, or other scheme, after being deducted out of the employer’s salary.

Protest
Horticulture staff hold rally
The Chandigarh Municipal Corporation Horticulture Workers Union today held a rally, protesting the privatisation of Sector 23 and 26 nurseries. According to a press release, the decision was uncalled for as the nurseries were not running into losses.

Padyatra to protest MC `inaction’
A dharna and padyatra was organised by the Block Congress (I) Committee No. 10 to protest the "inaction" of Municipal Corporation of Chandigarh in providing basic amenities to the residents of Sector 35, 36, 37 and 38. According to the block president Krishna Sharma, a memorandum was also submitted to the authorities.

Camp
Blood donation camp organised
A blood donation camp, in memory of Shruti who died in a building collapse at Shimla in 1992, is being organised on July 15 at the Sector 17 bridge market by Sweet Shruti Memorial Chandigarh Blood Donors Council. According to a press release, Satwant Singh, who is donating blood for the 109th time will be honoured by Shruti’s father Yogesh Sood.

Meeting
Panchkula senior citizens’ meet
A meeting of Senior Citizens Council, Sector 16, Panchkula, was held yesterday under the chairmanship of Kuldipak Lal at Day Care Centre, Sector 15. According to a release, six elders of the sector were honoured by J.D. Sharma, IAS (retd).

International Art of Living Foundation
Clothes, books and toys were distributed and a satsang organised by the Chandigarh chapter of International Art of Living Foundation in Colony Number 4, Industrial Area, here today. According to an organiser, Payal Gupta, the satsang was organised as a part of Service for People (SEVA).
