
PATIALA, APRIL 5: Two key conspirators in the Indian Airlines IC-814 hijacking case, Abdul Latif and Yusuf, were on Wednesday remanded to judicial custody till April 18 by Special Magistrate of the Central Bureau of Investigation Amarjit Singh Virk here.
Although the two accused were arrested at Mumbai, cases under Sections 365, 341, 342, 506, 307, 302, 147, 148 and 120-B of the Indian Penal Code and Arms Act and Explosives Act were registered at Amritsar and they were being tried by the CBI Special Magistrate here.
Abdul Latif was reported to have recorded his confessional statement with the Special CBI Magistrate on Tuesday under Section 164 of the CrPC and was remanded to judicial custody for a day. Tuesday’s proceedings went on till late in the evening amid elaborate security arrangements outside the CBI court here.
Earlier, on March 23, the CBI produced the two conspirators in the court and they were remanded to police custody till April 4.
