June 9: Income-taxTAX and Colaba Young Star split points playing out a 1-1 draw in the Western India Football Association (WIFA) Senior Division league match at the Cooperage today.

Ramesh Thakur (I-T) and Filips D’Costa (CYS) were the goal scorers of the match.

Earlier in a Div I league match, Father Agnel drubbed Reserve Bank of India (RBI) 5-0.

Eusebio Mascarenhas and Ian Antao led the goal charge with two goals each while Thomas Terrence booted one to complete the rout.

YADAV SHINES: Striker Abhishekh Yadav slammed six goals including a hat-trick to power Play Makers to a thumping 8-0 victory over Allies Sports Club in the open football tournament organised by the St Xavier’s Ex-Students Association Sports Club, Vile Parle (W) on Sunday.

A Kenkre and J Shaikh were the other goalscorers for the winners.

Earlier, Don Bosco Youth Centre, Kurla defeated Holiday Inn by two goals. Ganesh Singh and Shankar scored for DBYC.

VIDEOCON SQUASH: Top squash players would be seen in action during the Videocon Squash Classic Championship that gets under way at the Otters Club, Bandra from June 23.

The week-long championship offers prize money worth Rs 4 lakhs with the winners in the men’s and professional events pouching Rs 25,000 each while the runners-up would fetch Rs 15,000 each. The titlists in the women’s and juniors categories would be richer by Rs 15,000 each and the runners-up would net Rs 10,000 respectively.

Akhil Behl, Rajdeep Brar, Paul Ferreira, Neeraj Shiraonkar and Udai Singh are the big names that would be vying for top honours in the men’s section. The women’s and juniors categories too boasts of an impressive array with the participation of Mekhala Subedar, Parneeta Choudhary , Karishma Juneja and Gaurav Juneja, Parth Doshi, Abhijit Kukreja and Amitpal Kohli.
