HYDERABAD, July 3: Badminton Association of India (BAI) treasurer, Ahmed Hussain refuted the charges of former international Sanjay Sharma against newly elected BAI president, V K Verma.

The BAI president was not a paid official, as alleged by Sanjay Sharma, Hussain said in a statement, here, today.

Hussain, who is also the senior vice-president of the Andhra Pradesh Badminton Association said, “I sincerely appeal to all concerned, and to Prakash Padukone in particular, not to bring about any disruption and disunity in the 63-year old BAI.”

Sanjay Sharma advocates that Prakash should have been made the president of BAI.”

“It’s always organisation and not individuals that matter,” he said and appealed to Prakash Padukone to iron out the differences by talking to V K Verma in the interest of the game.”

MSA REMAINS IN BAI FOLD: NEW DELHI: Maharashtra Badminton Association (MBA) which was reported to have joined the Indian Badminton Confederation, has decided not to seek disaffiliation from the Badminton Association of India (BAI) and asked for BAI’s sanction for the Sushant Chipalkatti Memorial Junior Tournament being organised in Pune.

In his letter to BAI president VK Verma dated June 29, MBA secretary SV Natu, has conveyed this position and given an assurance that MBA would like to extend cooperation to BAI and work cohesively.

BAI, on its part, has sent its approval for the tournament so that all junior players, irrespective of state affiliation may participate, according to BAI press release here today.

DBA DISAFFILIATES: NEW DELHI: Delhi Badminton Association (DBA) today decided to disaffiliate from Badminton Association of India (BAI) and seek affiliation with Prakash Padukone-led Indian Badminton Confederation.In an special emergency meeting held yesterday, the members unanimously decided to support IBC, senior vice-president of the association, Vinod Dhavan said in a release today.
