In the largest ever haul of rdx in Jammu and Kashmir, security forces today recovered 348 kg of the deadly explosive from Anantnag district, taking the total quantity of such material seized in the last five days to a whopping 648 kg, a Defence spokesman said.

Acting on a specific information, security personnel raided a terrorist hideout in goas forest near Aishmuqam, 70 kms from here in Anantnag, and recovered 348 kgs of rdx, four grenades, 12 detonators, one remote controlled improvised explosive device and seven hand grenades, he told reporters.

The recovery, which came barely a week after the Army began its troop reduction in the state, was made during a joint operation conducted by the Rashtriya Rifles and Special Task Force (stf) of local police, he said.

Earlier on November 20, the Army had recovered 300 kgs of rdx from a grocery store near Anchidoora.
